INTRODUCTION TO PAINTING WITH WATERCOLOURS

then July 8, 15, 22, 29 August 5th, 12th and 19th
Times: 6-9pm each week
Fee: $280 includes all materials
This will be a comprehensive beginners watercolour workshop over 8 weeks
– no experience necessary!
The Introduction to Watercolour Course
The general aim of this class is to give people an opportunity to try and hopefully better
understand most of Watercolour’s basic methods and approaches.
Here are some of the techniques covered:
- Washes and Backwashes
- Wet into Wet
- Wet over Dry
- Special Effects
- Ink & Wash
- Splattering and “Controlled Run”
- Introduction of Gouache into Watercolour
- Composition and Contrast of Textures
We will paint a series of exercises in order to support the personal exploration
of the media you can undertake later, not aiming simply to reproduce
some work, but looking into the logic of the watercolour process.
This is an in-person workshop held in the Duthy Street Art Studio at
6 Duthy Street, Unley SA 5061
