Description:
This colour course demystifies the process of observing, mixing, and harnessing colour in oils and acrylics.
The session will cover the basics of colour, including:
– making your own colour wheel
– mixing rich and believable shadows
– using complimentary colours to enhance or neutralise each other
– how to mix basic skin tones and adapt them as needed
– what makes certain paints look brighter/ duller
– how to read your paint tube and buy the right materials
– It’s all relative: make your own colour optical illusion showing that colour is contextual.

oil or acrylic depending on artist preference
Quinacridone red / alizarine crimson
Cad red light / pyrolle red
ultramarine blue
pthalo blue / primary blue
arylide yellow / cad yellow light
Diarylide yellow / Indian yellow / cad yellow deep
Titanium white
at least two flat brushes larger and smaller (eg size 8/ size 4) synthetic hog hair/ hog hair
palette knife
