Megan Roodenrys - Oil Painting Artist Adelaide

Megan is a third generation visual artist, born in Canberra in 1968, whose grandmother Lorraine Holmes was awarded an OAM for her contribution to art. Those early years spent walking the galleries of the National Gallery in Canberra with her grandmother shaped everything that followed.

Megan graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the University of South Australia in 1996 and has been making and exhibiting work ever since, painting, drawing and printmaking. She has been a finalist in the Archibald Prize and her work has sold at auction nationally.

She is self-represented, working from her studio in Adelaide. A demonstration of her portraiture in pastel and oils for the Pastel Artists of South Australia drew an audience who watched her work with what was described as confidence and intuition, her advice to students being characteristically direct: trust yourself.

Megan co-owns Duthy Street Art Supplies, where she can often be found painting and working in the store, discussing materials and techniques with customers as she goes.
